About Lynn Woodland
Lynn’s background includes more than 30 years of professional experience in metaphysics, mental health, motivation, spiritual healing, mind-body dynamics, group facilitation and spiritual business practices. In 1975 she joined an innovative and experimental state-funded counseling center in Baltimore, Maryland that offered spiritually-based alternatives to traditional psychotherapy and addictions treatment. In her twelve years with this program (called the Janus Center), she worked with groups, families, and individuals, specializing in both general mental health and chemical dependency issues.
In 1983 she helped to found, and became the first Director of the Baltimore Center for Attitudinal Healing, modeled after the Center in Tiburon, California, founded by Gerald Jampolsky. It offered support services to children and adults dealing with life-challenging illnesses, and promoted an uplifting philosophy that quite simply defines healing as letting go of fear. During this time she specialized in helping people with illnesses to understand the connection between consciousness and health. In particular, she developed expertise in understanding the secondary gains of illness and addressing the complex emotional dynamics that affect the will to heal.
Since 1987, she has devoted herself to leading seminars and classes on a wide range of topics based upon her own work, the most intensive of which is the 5-day long
POWER! workshop. She is also an ordained minister and the founder
of a volunteer-staffed, nonsectarian prayer ministry. She is a ministerial guide
at Lake Harriet Spiritual Community in Minneapolis. As a writer, her articles
have appeared in dozens of papers around the country and she is the author of
the book Power, Effectiveness and Spirit.
